When:             November 1 – Noon till 4 PM

Where:           Liberty Park Soccer Fields

What:             What is a combine? A combine is an event where an athlete is tested with a

                        battery of physical tests to determine what the level of skill the athlete possesses

                        and where any weak links in his/her game might lie.

5 Events:

Power Med Ball Throw: Start with the ball overhead and bring it forward and down to knees. Begin throw as soon as ball gets to knee level. Throw by extending ankle, knee, hip and delivering the ball overhead backwards, keeping toes on ground. This is a great total body power test.

30 Yard Dash: A straight line sprint from a stance position timed

Compass Drill: The cones are laid out as per the diagram, with four marker cones placed in a diamond shape, and one in the middle. The outer cones are each placed 3 meters from the center. The player crouches behind and with their left hand on the middle cone, facing forwards (towards cone 5). The player then turns and runs to the right and touches the cone (2) with their hand. They then turn back and run to the center cone, out to the next cone (3), back to the center, out to the next cone (4), back to the center and then finally turn and finish by running through the finish line at cone 5. The player is required to touch the cone with their hand at each turn. Timing starts when the hand comes off the center cone, and stops when the chest passes through the line of the final cone. Rest for three minutes, then repeat the drill, moving in the opposite direction (counterclockwise, cones in order 1-4-3-2-5).

30 Sec Endurance Jump: Stand comfortably with both feet flat on the ground, perpendicular to the hurdle. The timing starts from the first movement. The athlete jumps off both feet and lands on both feet on the other side of the hurdle, then back again. The test continues for 30 seconds, with the total number of jumps counted.

 

Vertical Jump: The vertical jump test involves measuring the difference between the standing reach and the height reached at the peak of a vertical jump.

 

Adults: There will be a separate combine for mom and dad and coaches too! Come see how you rank! Make it a family affair!           

Bridge: Military style core testing movement with elbows bent at 90 degrees and toes planted firmly in the ground. Maintain straight line posture with spine parallel to the ground and hold that position as long you can.

Push Up Test: Military style push up  test for the duration of one minute.

Vertical Jump: The vertical jump test involves measuring the difference between the standing reach and the height reached at the peak of a vertical jump.

Step Up Test: This pattern of up-up-down-down, is considered a 4-count sequence. Keep a steady, comfortable pace. Maintain a cadence of 76 counts per minute for 3 minutes. At the end of 3 minutes, stop stepping and immediately take your heart rate (pulse), and keep a record of the number of beats per minute.

These results will be posted on several national combine websites for maximal exposure to all the soccer recruiting entities.
